The Football Coffee Break – The Future’s Brighton [Video Blog]

|

It was something of a surprise when Gustavo Poyet became boss of Brighton & Hove Albion Football club back in November 2009. After spending time in assistant manager jobs at Swindon Town, Leeds United and even Tottenham (whilst Juande Ramos was in charge) the former Uruguayan international looked set to leave his mark in the managerial scene in a rather succinct fashion. He surprised everyone by agreeing terms with League One side Brighton and it’s fair to say that nobody expected Gus to drive the club to success with such speed and clarity. Yet here we are a year-and-a-half later with Brighton as League One Champions on their way up to the Championship.

Brighton’s rise to prominence couldn’t have come at a better time. With a new 22,500 seater stadium on the way for the 2011-2012 season and a fresh sense of promise and ability surrounding Poyet’s squad, who’s to say where they’ll be in two-three years time? The following video blog, created, written and directed by Tom Skinner for ThisisFutbol.com is a celebration of all things Brighton & Hove Albion.
